Hey all, I just moved from California to Germany and can't seem to find any white gas. Any suggestions on a European fuel source that can be used with chain poi. I'm getting desperate here and could use any input you might have.

Mon, December 1, 2008 - 4:28 PMwhite gas isnt the technical name anymore. im not sure what other countries call it but if you refer to 'camp fuel' people usually know what youre talking about -

Re: European fuel
Mon, December 1, 2008 - 6:24 PMThe main distributors of white gas are coleman and MSR (mountain safety research) maybe you can look bt those names.
Make sure you go to a camping supply store to check and see what they have. Good luck.

Having just had a heck of a time finding fuel for Spain, I found this website very useful.
These are the names they recommend: Kocherbenzin
Feuerzeug Benzin
Katalyt Benzin
Reinigungsbenzin
Reinbenzin
Fleckenbenzin
Wundbenzin
This being said, Coleman Fuel is a select composition of 'white gas' that is specific to Coleman, and these others burn different (though are better than lamp oil!). I strongly recommend purchasing a small container and spinning with it just to make sure it isn't going to be too hard to handle before committing to a large container.
Sadly, due to time constraints and issues with translation, I had to settle for lamp oil in Spain. The largest problem you may run into is that White Gas is a different substance in England than here, so if you are asking for white gas in Germany, it may not be the same thing to them. (And, having spent a large time in Essen this past summer, I can say that at least in NRD, white gas is not easy to come by because they associate it strictly with pure jet fuel, and not camp fuel.
Good luck! -
