anyone have any experience with this? We usually burn on our roof but police came today. It's completely safe to do it there, it's big, open and all rubber. I'm sick of worrying about authorities. I know nothing about it.

Mon, February 9, 2009 - 11:04 AMI know that here all we need is a candle permit.
It's like $50 and we get it from the local Fire Dept.

Mon, February 9, 2009 - 11:18 AMI would suggest connecting with the Wildfire community out there. there is a weekly spinjam at bu, but the city of boston is pretty strict about its fire regulations.

Re: Obtaining A Fire Permit for Spinning
Mon, February 9, 2009 - 11:20 AMIn Philly I got one from the fire department free. I had to call the fire marshal several times and even put together a performance resume. It was a big fuss and they contacted fire performers in the area that they were familiar with to ask about me. The only thing I like about living in a small town in NJ is that I spin in my yard all the time and no one has giving me any trouble about it.

Re: Obtaining A Fire Permit for Spinning
Tue, February 17, 2009 - 7:30 AMIt depends on city ordinances and the fire department's codes. For instance, in Asheville, to obtain a fire permit you have to pay a fee, fill out contact paperwork, provide a fire extinguisher on site and/or a "water person," must be 20 ft from any moving or parked vehicles, and carry the permit on you. Once you go through it a few times with the fire marshal, they get to know you and things get a lot easier! It helps if you are professional and friendly when you go to apply... -
