Re: veil poi.
Thu, March 5, 2009 - 8:52 AMNice video. My dance partner and I are doing veil poi as well. I'm looking for dancer of a similar type to share videos with. www.youtube.com/watch Here's the link to our effort. We are currently working on a new effort and hope to have it ready soon, but lack a group to perform with, oh well. Maybe one day I'll get the guts to light them on fire! -

Re: veil poi.
Thu, March 5, 2009 - 9:29 AMI wouldn't light veil poi on fire!!! I hope you mean you'd get some regular fire poi to light on fire (pictures the carnage and mayhem of flaming veil poi... And they're probably synthetic, too!)

Thu, March 5, 2009 - 3:23 PMUmmm,
That was friggin cool. I don't even like belly dance much, but that portion was so clean. The way you incorporated the veils as dresses, veils, ribbon dancers :), and poi was a nice mix, excellent use of the waist band too!
Kudos, I couldn't turn it off...

Re: veil poi.
Wed, March 11, 2009 - 8:44 AMHA! That would at least be intereting, once, eh. In reality I'd like to one day have the nerve to play with fire like many of you do. I'm so visually attracted to watching fire poi. Blending Belly Dance with Poi/Voi has been fun, but we end up being odd-man-out in most groups, so its hard to find performance opportunities. -

Re: veil poi.
Sun, March 15, 2009 - 12:29 PMKudos....
I really loved how you incorporated the Veil poi.. starting off with just using it to simulate th masked face, to a veil, to ribbon dancing, to full out veil poi - the transitions were incorporated nicely.
I do Flagging (has the size issues of veil poi) and poi, I've played with veil poi and sort of the odd hodgepodge of belly dancing here and there - so having this multitude of backgrunds, I can see your idea of poi on fire.. with that kind of choreography would be awesome.
I couldn't turn it off.
