Ok, so anyone who knows me knows that through and through I'm a raver and I'm proud of it. I grab my battery operated glowsticks from walmart and sping those little toys around all night. Many friends of mine are glowstringers and poi, however I've discovered that I really have no talent for strings/poi. A friend of mine has recently purchased a staff, and I've taken quite a likeing to it. I feel much more comfortable with the staff than I do with poi/glowstring, and have already begun to learn some of the basics of a staff. I was hopeing maybe someone could give me some basic staff tips, because I've been a raver for years and have never really put to much stock into fire arts. I know plenty of glowstringers who never lifted a pair of fire poi in their life, but were able to bang it out like a pro the first time they picked them up. Is there such a thing as a fire glove? I know there are fans and various other hand related non-poi fire arts out there, and was just curious as to the best way to use what I already know to create a new fire art.

Cups, palm torches, regular torches, even chopsticks.
Palm torches can be reversed and worn in sets of 3 to make fax brass knuckles, Cups, too, but they look weird. And you can always order custom stuff.
But here's the real thing about the transition. A lot of glow performers move incredibly fast to get the longest persistent tail out of their toys. And while this may enhance a glow show, and impress fire folk at first, Most eventually slow down quite a bit. Going at breakneck speeds isn't what fire is about... it's about the fire. And the faster you go with fire, the more it looks like a smokey glowstick Really not point to switching at all if that's the show you produce.
So, first suggestion, take your time with fire. Better to be able to do 2 or 3 completely unique, full shows then to try to cram all your moves into 1 snow at double speed. -
